Let Food Be Thy Medicine
We promote the idea that we should strive to get the nutrients that we need from the food that we eat. Medication is used to treat symptoms of disease, but rarely to address the cause of the disease. Supplementation is useful to bring the gap between sickness and health. If we are healthy we should be able to get what we need from the foods that we eat.
A general foundation that is generally healthy to adhere to is to have 3-5 vegetables, 2-3 fruits, 2-3 proteins, 2 servings of nuts and/or seeds, and a gallon of water a day.
Some communities are "food deserts" where nutritious food is either not available or cost prohibitive. In these cases are intent is to teach community farming techniques to provide access to fruits, vegetables, and herbs to fill those gaps that exist.
